VANCOUVER ISLAND
RALLY
The Vancouver Island
Rally hosted by
Wendell Nunes for Region 8
was held July 27-30, 2009 at Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Barbara and Rick Dalderis
was gracious and sent along some photos
of the rally as shown below. The Hula photos at the bottom of
the page are courtesy of
Wendell.
The following Rally
Report was provided by Sid and Shirley Burget (F284444):
Many thanks to
Wendell Nunes and his great crew of volunteers for an excellent
Rally on Vancouver Island July 27th – 30th. A
total of 41 Roadtreks attended the Port Alberni site with 35 couples
and 6 singles for a total of 76 people. Talk about being well
treated. The rally was held on the property of a member of Wendell’s
family and as well as ample level parking they opened their private
home to us including, get this – an indoor swimming pool. WOW! On
behalf of all of us a big Thank You to hosts Eliseo and Gerri
Bolosan. The Continental Breakfasts and Buffet Dinners were
excellent and enjoyed by all. Wendell introduced his
grandchildren Daniel and Sarah. Sarah entertained all with her
beautiful Hula dancing, followed by a variety of informative
speakers such as Solar Phil and others. Of course there was the very
important opportunity to renew friendships and establish new ones.
Also as with pretty well any event of this sort there was the usual
good news/bad news thing. First the bad news; the weather was HOT! A
lot more running of generators for air conditioning, plus it did cut
down on the amount of time spent just socializing. As for the good
news; the weather was HOT! As a result we all spent a bit more
time exploring this interesting and beautiful Island. Visits were
made to the coastal towns of Tofino and Ucluelet where the ocean
breezes were refreshingly cooler. Visits were made by many to
Vancouver Island’s Long Beach where hundreds were surfing or just
relaxing and to Sproat Lake, base of the huge Martin Mars water
bombers and a lovely beach. Not to be missed as well were the many
features of the interesting town of Port Alberni and so on. Thanks
Wendell, I’m sure everyone left with great memories and we
personally would not miss a chance to come again
